| - The more everyone understands what happens
in the studio, the better the end result is.
- Practice, Practice, Practice! You can practice at home
for free. Here, it costs. Be ready before your session.
- Goofing off just wastes everyone’s time and money.
- Don’t mix on the same day you track! Take a 2-3
day break after listening to your newly recorded rough mix.
It helps you come back with a clear mind and ears, and spot
things you wouldn’t have before.
-Check your amps, guitars and instruments for annoying buzzes
and noises at home, if they bother you a little at home
the noises will only be louder in the studio. Try to fix
these problems ahead of time.
-Guitar Players - Change your strings a day or two before
the studio session to let the strings settle in. Please
check your guitars intonation before hand. Many sessions
have been ruined with out of tune guitars because of bad
intonation. If you don’t know what intonation is take
your guitar to a guitar shop ahead of time and let them
check it out.
-Drummers - If you bring your drums in you might want to
change your drum heads if you have not done so in the last
100 years.
